Series: “How to get along with others … Jesus style”
When Jesus was asked, ‘which is the greatest commandment’, he replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Love God and love others: shouldn’t be too difficult…right? As you know, it is easy to say ‘love others’, but actually loving others is another matter. During this series we will see how we can build and strengthen relationships based on the life of Jesus.

Series: “Pointing the Prodigals Home”
Luke 15 possibly contains some of the most important parables Jesus told. The first two parables talk about the search for something valuable. The third parable, The Prodigal Son, is perhaps one of the best known stories in the Bible. Not long after Jesus told this parable he said, ‘I came to seek and save the lost’. Over three weeks we will explore how we can join God in ‘praying the prodigals home’…playing our part to seek and save the lost.

Not only does it paint the picture of who Jesus is, but it also helps the church to understand who it is called to be and how it is to live in response to Jesus. Over 4 weeks we will dig deeply into both of these things.

“Expectant” series – Encounters with Jesus in the Gospel of Luke.
It seems whenever people encountered Jesus they were challenged or changed toward the bigger idea of the Kingdom of God. Eyes were opened, people were healed, good news was proclaimed, new life was found. As we journey through Lent, and ultimately toward the Cross, expect to encounter the transforming power and presence of Christ through the amazing encounters found in Luke.
25-Mar-2018: Ps Brett Scherer – “Palm Sunday – Whose Expectations?”
As Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to announce his Messiahship, he paused on the Mount of Olives to lament over Jerusalem’s (and Israel’s) failure to fulfil God’s hopes that they would be a source of God’s light for the world. As we move into Holy Week, Brett challenges us to understand our expectations of Jesus, and his expectations of us.

The Book of Jonah series – “Hearts on Display”
Jonah is a story most of us heard in Sunday School which mostly focused on a whale. Yet the book of Jonah is more than that; it has life-long lessons. It is a story of the relentless love of God and a reluctant Prophet for God; a story that sees God’s and Jonah’s hearts on display. The question is, is our heart like God’s or Jonah’s?

1 John Series – “Assurance : That you might KNOW …”
Most people understand that the important things in life are not things at all – they are the relationships we have. God has put a desire for relationships in every one of us; a desire He intended to be met by relationships with other people, but most of all to be met by a relationship with Him. In this remarkable letter, John tells us of the assurance we have in our relationship with Jesus and how this impacts our relationships with others for both now and eternity.

“Encounters with Jesus – Disturbing Grace” series (8 January – 22 January 2017)
Grace is the most compelling concept not only in Scripture, but for life. God’s grace makes way for life and life to the full. Jesus talked widely about grace, and you can’t read Jesus’ parables without having a more expansive view of grace; a disturbing grace, a grace that provokes, rattles and unnerves you. The kind of grace that demands you see God and yourself and others in an entirely new and redemptive light. Listen in to the words of the one who brings amazing…and disturbing grace.

Advent 4 – Love
11-12-2016: Rev Glen Schweitzer – “Advent 3 – Joy”
At this time of year ‘joy’ is everywhere. Yet the reality is, for some, joy is difficult to experience because of what has happened in their past. How can you find joy not just at Christmas, but all year round? (special thanks to Steve Carter for his work for this sermon)

20-11-2016: Rev Glen Schweitzer – “Spiritual Gifts – Healing”
When Jesus prayed for people they were healed…yet he did not heal everyone. When the disciples prayed for people, many were healed…but not always. What is the point of healing and how do we approach this magnificent way in which God’s kingdom breaks through into the here and now?
Spiritual Gifts- Healing
13-11-2016: Rev Glen Schweitzer – “Spiritual Gifts – Hospitality”
Hospitality is not just giving people food – it gives people a space to accepted and loved. Hospitality is a practice that has been a part of the Christian heritage for thousands and thousands of years. And perhaps it is something that God will use each of us in to make his love and grace known.
06-11-2016: Rev Glen Schweitzer – “Spiritual Gifts – Leadership”
‘If your gift is to lead, then lead diligently.’ (Romans 12:8c). But who is a leader and when and how do we lead. (This was a shortened sermon due to the National Church Life Survey, so some ideas are not fully unpacked).
The Gift of Leadership
30-10-2016: Rev Glen Schweitzer – “Spiritual Gifts – God’s Kingdom breaking through”
God’s grace is meant to be real in the lives of all people. We begin our series on Spiritual Gifts by looking at how these ‘explosions of grace’ are ‘good news’ to those who experience them. Michael Frost shares an excellent story that helps us to see what God’s Kingdom breaking into the here and now might look like.

What we do with creation now is important for eternity. Today we explore how God will and is renewing the earth…and to understand this we look at resurrection.

16-10-2016: Rev Glen Schweitzer – “Justice – it’s relational!”
So often we confuse justice with fairness. Yet biblically, justice is never seen as a way to punish, but a way to restore relationship.

28-08-2016: “FAITH – Just do it!” – Week 7 – Prayer – Rev Glen Schweitzer

21-08-2016: “FAITH – Just do it!” – “Week 6 – Quarrels and fights” – Rev Glen Schweitzer

14-08-2016: “FAITH – Just do it” – Week 5 – Rev Glen Schweitzer
Is faith all we need to be saved or is James suggesting we need works as well? How can James and Paul be so different on this? Perhaps they are not…perhaps there is a relationship between faith and works that needs to be explored.
James Week 5
07-08-2016: “FAITH – Just do it!” Week 4 – Rev Glen Schweitzer
Words are important. Our words have the capacity to build up and encourage, or to pull down. Our words also have an effect on the direction of our own lives. Listen in to wisdom from James.
Faith – Just do it #4 – “Words”
31-07-2016: “FAITH – Just do it!” – Rev Glen Schweitzer
What does it mean for us to have a ‘pure religion’? James says one of the ways is to ensure we go out of our way to help those who are disempowered, disregarded and discriminated against, either deliberately or more likely inadvertently.
