At Chapel Hill Uniting Church, Life Groups play a very important role in helping us to grow as Christians. There are many kinds of groups that function within our church. We have a range of groups catering for different groups of people with different needs and interests, and with different meeting schedules.
We believe that Faith Life Groups – small groups of people who meet together on a regular basis to share honestly with one another and to build each other up in their walk with Jesus – are an important way of engaging with our vision and of growing our individual discipleship. They provide unique opportunities for many of the values of CHUC to be encouraged and strengthened.
Faith Life Groups provide a safe, supportive environment for each of us to learn to talk about our faith, to understand more about scripture and the good news of Jesus, to learn to pray together, and to care for one another. In the end, they are a key mechanism for us to ‘gather…so we can scatter’, and in doing so fulfil the great commission.
Jesus could have relied on his public ministry to build His kingdom, but He did not. He had only three years of ministry, so He chose twelve followers and invested the majority of His trust, knowledge, time and relationship in them. He became their friend. They became His family.
The plan of Jesus was basically individual discipleship in a small group setting, listening, discussing, watching, then sharing in the tasks, going out in ministry.

Know Your Bible (KYB, women, Monday evenings)
We study a book of the Bible by reading and preparing answers to questions. Mondays we share our answers and discuss applications to our own lives. We value the deep friendships and caring that develop among all the members. We welcome new ladies of any age. Weekly on Monday nights on Zoom.
Most Mondays (Monday evenings, weekly)
A mixed group, primarily with young families, who are trying to live like Jesus.
Men’s Bible Study (1st and 3rd Monday evenings)
We are a group of older men (50+) who are seeking a better understanding of God’s word and how it applies to our lives. We share our experiences, understandings and questions. We surround our meetings with prayer and we laugh a lot.
Women’s Bible Study (Tuesday mornings, fortnightly)
We are a long-standing group whose studies focus either on a book of the Bible, or on an inspirational book which will help us grow in our walk with the Lord. We share intimately about our lives and families, and we all pray and encourage each other. We also support two missions, one a Pastor and his flock in Zimbabwe, the other the food.gives program run by the Barnabas Fund. For one lady, our Life Group is her church.
Bible Study Group (Tuesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:30pm weekly)
We meet in a private home at Chapel Hill or at Chapel House, enjoy supper together, then follow with prayer and a study. We are in our 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Some of us have teenagers, some are empty nesters, some have grandchildren.
Young Adults Group
We host a weekly faith life group for the young adults in our community. We aim to run within the uni semesters. We work on a fortnightly rotation Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Tuesdays we attend The Garden Uni Ministry and Wednesday’s we delve into a topic or bible study, depending on what we are working on at that time.
If you are a young adult or know a young adult who would be interested in attending, please use the button below to request further details.
The Thursday Afternoon Group (1.30pm, weekly)
We are a group of women of varying ages. Our format is relaxed, and we meet at the church. We share our lives and support each other. There is not usually a formal Bible Study, but we do read book chapters (recently Nicky Gumbel’s A Life Worth Living, and currently Peter Greig’s How to Pray: A Simple Guide for Normal People) and we explore some deep issues during our discussions. You are very welcome to join us.
High School Faith Life Groups
We have youth life groups for girls (GLOW) and boys (FTB) in grades 7-12. If you are interested in either of these groups, please visit the dedicated pages in our Children & Youth section by clicking the buttons below.
